About this course

Course Description: To be certified as an NRA Instructor, students must complete a 6-hour classroom course that teaches material common to all NRA courses. That course does not certify the instructor candidate to teach any NRA courses. Additional discipline-specific instructor training is required to certify instructor candidates to teach specific courses.

KR Training can certify NRA instructors in the following disciplines: Home Firearm Safety, Pistol, Personal Protection, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzleloading Pistol, Muzzleloading Rifle, Muzzleloading Shotgun, and Reloading. NRA instructors can also be certified as Range Safety Officers through additional training.

The first day of NRA instructor training consists of the 6 hour basic instructor training and the 5 hour Home Firearm Safety instructor course. Tuition includes all NRA materials required for each course. Taught by Karl Rehn and Penny Riggs.

Topics: Policies and procedures for conducting NRA courses, NRA instructor eligibility requirements and responsibilities, ordering materials for courses, general techniques for teaching gun safety and shooting, using NRA lesson plans to teach the Home Firearm Safety course.
